The South-east Queensland region is one of the most biodiverse in Australia; the region is also experiencing strong population growth. I am interested in the role people play in shaping habitat. How do we balance competition between conservation and development to maintain natural heritage values?
During 2010 my research is focused on land within the Redland City Council boundaries. Artworks resulting from this project will be shown in an exhibition titled 'Plant-Life' opening at Redland Art Gallery in July 2010.
My Book, Layers of Life, features full colour photography of observations and artworks developed during my nine months Artist-in-Residence at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt.Coot-tha. Monthly chapters present seasonal highlights in the Australian Plant Communities, with accompanying chapters featuring visual inspiration from the Japanese, Temperate Region and Arid Region gardens.
