My studio work table at the end of making a work. Layers of pieces that did and didn't make it into the final work, makes me think of the phrase - what ends up on the cutting room floor.

My hand cut paper work Curated ecology - Nature Strip is included in the show Paper Works III, a curated group exhibition at Brenda May Gallery, Sydney. This third installment of the galleries paper works series endeavours to illustrate the diversity and versatility of paper, providing a glimpse into the range of creative potential for this medium.
Curated ecology - Nature Strip reflects on the habitat of many city and town suburban environments. A place where, town planning, heritage and personal aesthetic; mixes with maintenance regimes and safety concerns. This confluence of values interests me, in the affect it has on our relationship with environment. This work developed in response to a residency at Grafton Regional Gallery in 2014, featuring several of the streets flora and fauna.
This work has approximately 80 hours of cutting time invested in its making, along with a week of paper and drawing preparations.
Paper Works III is on show from 14th April to 2nd May 2015, at Brenda May Gallery, 2 Danks Street, Waterloo, NSW.
